DayBoard Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

DayBoard is designed to keep personal dashboard data private to your devices and your own selected sync feed.

Photos

DayBoard for Apple TV requests access to the photo library so it can display photos from an album you choose. Photos from the Apple TV's library are displayed on the TV and are not uploaded by DayBoard.

Photos from iPhone (Optional)

If you choose photos in DayBoard Companion to show on a paired Apple TV, each photo is resized, stripped of its location and camera metadata, and encrypted on your iPhone with that TV's pairing key before it is uploaded to DayBoard's iCloud (CloudKit) container, from which the paired TV downloads it. Without the pairing key, which only your devices hold, the stored files cannot be viewed. Removing a photo in DayBoard Companion, or removing the TV from DayBoard Companion, deletes the photos that iPhone uploaded. DayBoard stores at most 50 photos per TV, or 12 on a TV without DayBoard Plus.

Calendar and Reminder Summaries

DayBoard Companion requests access to calendars and reminders only after you choose to sync. If you use QR pairing, selected event and reminder summaries are encrypted with the pairing token before being published through CloudKit so the paired dashboard can display them. If you use private iCloud sync instead, selected summaries are published into your private iCloud database. Calendar and reminder summaries are not stored on a developer-operated server.

Optional Calendar Screenshot Import

If you choose to import a calendar screenshot, DayBoard Companion analyzes it on your device and lets you review the detected events before publishing them to your active DayBoard feed.

Host Mode (Optional, DayBoard Host)

Host Mode turns a TV at a rental property into a welcome screen for guests. What the host enters in DayBoard Companion — the property name, how to reach the host, the Wi-Fi network and password, check-in and checkout times, checkout steps, the house guide and local recommendations, guests' names and welcome notes, the booking calendar link and the host PIN — is encrypted on the host's iPhone with the TV's pairing key and stored through CloudKit like the TV's other settings, where it cannot be read without that key. Everything except the booking calendar link and the PIN is shown on the TV to whoever is in the room, so hosts should enter only what they are happy for guests to see.

The Apple TV downloads the booking calendar itself, directly from the link the host provides (for example Airbnb, VRBO or Booking.com), so that booking site receives the TV's IP address as part of the request. These calendar exports contain booking dates, not guests' names; names are added by the host, and DayBoard Companion drops a guest's name once their stay is no longer in the booking calendar. While Host Mode is on, the household's own calendar, reminders and Family Board are not shown on the TV.

Family Board (Optional, DayBoard Plus)

Notes, countdowns, chores, dinners and shopping-list items added in DayBoard Companion are encrypted with the TV's pairing key and stored through CloudKit like the TV's other settings, so every paired phone and the TV see the same board. Notes stop being shown after three days, and anything removed in DayBoard Companion is removed from the board.

The Gallery (DayBoard Plus)

Gallery images are public-domain artworks downloaded by the Apple TV directly from the Art Institute of Chicago's public image server, which receives the TV's IP address as part of each request. No personal information is sent, and the images are kept only in the TV's cache.

Weather

DayBoard for Apple TV requests approximate device location to show local weather. Approximate coordinates are sent to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve current conditions and the forecast; DayBoard uses no other weather provider. If Apple TV location is unavailable, DayBoard may request an approximate fallback location from ipapi.co or ipwho.is, which receive the requester's IP address as part of the web request.

Purchases

DayBoard's dashboard is free. DayBoard Plus and DayBoard Host are optional in-app purchases, made on the Apple TV and processed entirely by Apple; DayBoard never receives payment-card information. The TV checks its own purchases with Apple and tells paired phones which plan it has, so they can show the matching controls.

Retention and Deletion

Published calendar and reminder summaries remain in your active DayBoard feed until they are replaced by a later sync or removed. In DayBoard Companion, tap Clear Feed to remove published summaries. Host Mode settings and the Family Board are replaced whenever they are edited; clearing a field and saving removes it, and without the pairing key the stored copy cannot be read. You can revoke Photos, Calendar, Reminders, or Location permission in device settings.

Tracking

DayBoard does not use advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
